Description

Discover the largest cathedral in Catalonia and one of the most beautiful Gothic cathedrals!

During your stay in Catalonia, be sure to visit Tarragona Cathedral, a true jewel of Gothic architecture.

It overlooks the entire city of Tarragona and boasts an exceptional panorama. It stands on the site of a former Roman barracks around which the city of Tarraco gradually grew. This barracks included a large square and a temple to the Emperor Augustus, before giving way to a Visigothic cathedral that disappeared in 711.

Tarragona Cathedral, as you will see it on your visit, was built in 1331. Its grandeur and solidity have earned it the reputation of being the most beautiful cathedral in Catalonia. The chapels located between the buttresses of the side naves give an indication of the architectural and stylistic evolution of the cathedral as a whole.
