Description

Avoid the queues to get into Seville Cathedral and enjoy breathtaking views of Seville from La Giralda Tower!

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the See (Catedral de Santa María de la Sede) of Seville is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. Built from 1402 onwards on the site of the city's old Almohad Mosque, it was consecrated in 1507. The only remnant of the mosque is the old minaret, now the bell tower now called La Giralda. A symbol of Seville, it is today one of the most important Hispano-Muslim architectural landmarks.

The Cathedral is richly decorated and famous for its huge Gothic altarpiece in the main chapel. Inside, you will also discover many works by major Spanish artists such as Goya and Murillo as well as the tombs of several kings and even that of Christopher Columbus.

Don't miss the orange tree courtyard and the highlight of the site: the climb to La Giralda Tower. You will reach it not via stairs but by a gently sloping corridor that used to allow you to ride in on horseback. At the top (about 104m), superb views of the Andalusian capital await you!
