Visit the demilitarised zone and its main sites during a guided tour in which you will find out about the tensions which have subsisted since the 1950s on the Korean peninsula!
A shuttle will pick you up directly from your hotel in Seoul to take you to the demilitarised zone.
First you will visit Imjingak Park. Built on the banks of the Imjin river, it features many buildings constructed in memory of the victims of the Korean War.
Your guide will take you to Freedom Bridge which links up North and South Korea.
You will visit the 3rd tunnel dug by the North Koreans during an attempted invasion of South Korea which was discovered before it was ever used, based on the testimony of a North Korean defector in 1978.
Your visit will continue to the Dora Observatory where, weather permitting, you will be able to see a North Korean village.
You will then enter the hall of the Dorasan station, the last station in South Korea before North Korea. Built as a reunification attempt, it should allow access to Pyongyang should one day the border disappear.
There will be an optional visit to the Ginseng centre where you can buy products based on this medicinal plant, or to an amethyst factory, a violet-coloured stone often used in jewellery.
Finally, the shuttle will take you back to Seoul and drop you off in front of the town hall.
