Visit the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens and discover the Tijuca Forest with a professional guide!
After pick up from your hotel , you'll visit the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, one of the largest in the world.
It was created in 1817 by King D. João, to accommodate a wide variety of Brazilian and foreign species.
You'll see imperial palms, enormous water lilies and the famous Pau Brasil trees with their red bark, which gave their name to the country.
You can also admire the 500 different types of orchid.
You will then head for the Tijuca Forest, the world's largest urban forest. You'll stop at the "Chine View" lookout, which gives you a breathtaking view of Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain.
You'll then take an easy trail for a 20-30 minute hike, where your guide will tell you all about the surrounding ecosystem and the history of the forest.
You'll discover major forest landmarks such as Cascatinha de Taunay, a waterfall, or Capela Mayrink, a wedding chapel.
After half a day learning more about Brazil's vegetation and ecosystem, you'll be taken back to your hotel.
