Description

Discover the islands of Paros and Antiparos and all they have to offer with an English-speaking guide by your side.

After a transfer from your hotel (or the nearest meeting point), you'll head to Parikia, capital and main port of the island of Paros.

This day tour complete with a guide will begin at 9 am with a visit to Ekatontapiliani ('the church with 100 doors'). With Byzantine architecture, this is the oldest church in the Cyclades and the third oldest in Greece. You'll then roam the picturesque streets of Parikia. Continue on with a visit to the Frankish castle, built around 400 BC on the site of an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Athena.

Next, travel to Naoussa, one of the most delightful towns on Paros, which was also once a pirate's hideout. Enjoy some free time to wander around the port.

After this, it's time to drive back to the centre of the island to explore the village of Lefkes, built at the foot of Mount Profitis Ilias. Built in the shape of an amphitheatre on the side of the mountain, Lefkes was the original capital of the island of Paros. The inhabitants chose this location to better protect themselves from the pirates who were decimating the Cycladic ports at that time.

Head on to the port of Pounta, where you'll hop on the ferry to the island of Antiparos. Discover the small town of Chora and its 15th century Venetian fortress, which is inhabited to this day. You'll lunch at a traditional tavern.

Then, return to Paros and drive to the southern village of Aliki, which offers views of the neighbouring islands. There, you'll meet Mrs. Katerina, who will open up the doors to the Scorpios Museum exhibiting the works of Mr. Benetos Skiadas, a local sailor. Peruse the collection of model boats, as well as a miniature world of the island's famous monuments.

Around 5 pm, you'll be taken back to your hotel or the nearest meeting point.
