Description

Discover the famous Conciergerie, a former palace and prison set at the very heart of Paris. Located on the banks of the Seine on the Ile de la Cité, this historic monument allows visitors to relive the history of the French Revolution.

Built from the 13th century as a royal palace, the Conciergerie became a prison when the royal family moved into more luxurious lodgings at the Louvre and Vincennes.

Nicknamed "the antechamber to the guillotine" during the French Revolution, you can visit the former courthouse located in the Grande Salle and explore the cells that were once reserved for the "enemies of the Republic”. You'll also be able to see the tombs of several heroes of the Revolution.

Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Conciergerie is a true architectural treasure. Built in the Gothic style, a pioneer of its time, the Conciergerie is one of the last remaining architectural testimonies of 13th and 14th century Paris.

A unique experience awaits you in this building, a little-known relic of French history!
