Set off on an unforgettable excursion to the islands of Rhenaeus and Delos by traditional Greek boat!
In ancient times, Delos & Rhenaeus were the most important Panhellenic places of worship and the largest commercial centres in the Mediterranean. This day's boat trip includes a visit to one of Greece's most important archaeological sites.
Your sail boat will leave Mykonos at 10.30am and head southwest towards the island of Rhenaeus (or Rínia in Greek). This tiny island, separated from Delos by a small strait, is known for its beautiful beaches and clear waters. In ancient times, the island served as a necropolis for the inhabitants of Delos, an island dedicated to the god, Apollo where it was forbidden to give birth or die. Now uninhabited, you can explore the island or simply enjoy its secluded beaches.
A traditional Greek lunch will then be served on board: kebabs, Greek salad, tzatziki, rice, feta cheese, bread and fruit (drinks included: water, juice and wine).
At around 2.30pm, you'll set sail for the island of Delosto visit its famous UNESCO World Heritage-classified archaeological site. According to mythology, Apollo was born on this island. The god became the protector of the island and Delos an all-powerful centre of his cult. In terms of its archaeological importance, this small uninhabited island now rivals other famous sites on mainland Greece and has one of the most varied collections of remains in Greece (site entrance fees & guide not included, extra to be paid on site).
If you don't want to visit this site in Delos, the captain will take you to another beach near Delos, where you can swim and relax.
You'll return to Mykonos around 5pm and once again enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of the Aegean Sea from the boat.
