Description

Set off to discover the city of Nizwa, former capital of the Sultanate of Oman, a city with a rich heritage and traditions!

Forts and castles are the most iconic cultural sites of the Sultanate of Oman. They were historically used to defend the city against invaders. The country boasts over 500 forts, castles and watchtowers. The tour of Nizwa will ishow you some of them, being the most remarkable, set apart by their specific architecture and their style.

You will see the main bazaars, known for their authentic vibe and variety of available products. See cattle auction sales, which take place every Friday.

Stop by Bahla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its hand-made pottery and its defensive bastion, the Jabreen, which may be the most beautiful castle in Oman. 

Good to know

  • Availability: Tuesday, Thursday (from the 1st of May to the 30th of September) and Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday (from the 1st of October to the 30th of April) (except exceptional dates)
  • Departure time and location: between 8am and 9am at your hotel in Muscat, exact time will be confirmed after your booking
