Description

Discover the hidden gems of Meteora on this hike through the Hermit Caves!

Located on the Thessalian plain, the Meteora are imposing pillars of grey rock, sculpted by erosion, that can reach heights of over 600 metres. These immense rock formations are among the most impressive sites in Greece.

This hike will take you into the mountains, where you will discover the caves and retreats that have been used by Orthodox monks to retreat and meditate for centuries.

Starting from the picturesque village of Kastraki, you will embark on a hike through the breathtaking landscape of the Meteora.

One of the highlights of the tour is the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, which was built inside a cave in the 10th century by Varnavas, the very first hermit of the Meteora. This cave is considered the birthplace of the area's monastic community, making it a key part of the region's spiritual history.

On the way, you'll reach the top of the Agio Pnevma rock, from where you'll enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the monasteries. You will also visit the monks' prison-cave, located on the north side of Aghio Pnevma, and pass by the cave of Saint George

Don't miss this opportunity to discover the beauty and wonders of the Meteora.
