Description

Spend a day enjoying a guided tour of southwest Mauritius's must-see sites!

Take your seat on the transfer from your hotel and head to southwest Mauritius. The guide will make a first stop at the volcanic crater of Trou Aux Cerfs, from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of almost the entire island. You'll visit the model ship factory in Curepipewhere you'll find several artisans who produce miniature replicas.

You'll continue your excursion to the Great Basin Lake, a sacred Hindu lake in this ancient volcano's crater. You'll then stop at the Black River Viewpointon the Black River Gorges, where you can admire the island's flora and fauna.

Before lunch, you'll visit the Chamarel Rum Distillery where you'll learn about the various steps used to make the local rum. You can also enjoy a tasting session. Lunch will be at a local restaurant recommended by your guide.

After lunch you'll be driven to the town of Chamarel. Admire the 90-metre-high Chamarel waterfall and the famous Seven Coloured Earth landscape. This natural phenomenon is caused by basalt lava, which creates unique shades of red and brown.

You'll be driven back to your hotel after an eight-hour excursion to the heart of Mauritius's southwest coast.
