Description

Discover the Japanese tradition of the tea ceremony in a traditional house in Kyoto!

Dive into the history and flavors of Japanese culture by taking part in a unique tea ceremony in the heart of a century-old traditional house in Kyoto. This activity will give you the opportunity to discover the art of tea preparation in comfort, at the table.

You'll be welcomed by Hiromi, a specialist with over 30 years' experience in the Urasenke tradition, one of the major schools of the tea ceremony. Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a welcome drink (sake or soft drink) and immerse yourself in an introduction to the history of matcha and the traditions surrounding this iconic beverage.

Hiromi will give you a precise and methodical demonstration of matcha tea preparation, before guiding you in making your own tea. You'll then savor your creation, accompanied by a wagashi, a seasonal Japanese sweet. You'll also leave with a fan or a traditional envelope with your name inscribed in Japanese.
