Learn about Chinese Buddhism with a private 2-day tour to Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei!
- Day 1: Leshan tour
A shuttle bus will pick you up from your hotel to take you to Leshan, where you will see the Giant Buddha, a unique UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide will tell you about the history of this statue, which holds the record as the largest sitting Buddha statue in the world. The statue was built, thanks to the efforts of a monk, in the 8th century at the junction of three rivers to protect passing ships.
Then, take a cruise on the Min River. From the boat, you will enjoy amazing views of the statue, which rises to a height of 71 metres.
Later in the afternoon, you will be taken to Mount Emei. Spend the night in a hotel located at the foot of the mountain.
- Day 2: Day at Mount Emei
The day will begin in the scenic area of Mount Emei, where you can admire the views before boarding the cable car that will take you half way up the mountain. Here, you will visit the Wannian temple, an important site in Chinese Buddhism. The serene faces of the believers will radiate a sense of calm.
Then, take a walk in the mountains before going back down to the bottom. You may see monkeys during your walk. Lastly, the shuttle will take back you to the hotel.
