Observe the whale sharks in their natural habitat on this tour with an English-speaking guide.
An early-morning transfer will take you directly from your hotel to the port of Flamingos, near Cancún, where breakfast will be served. At around 8:30 am, you'll hop aboard a speedboat and head to the whale shark area. Once you arrive at your destination, you'll stop for about 2 hours to observe the whale sharks, photograph them, and you can even swim with them if you wish (snorkelling equipment available to borrow).
Considered to be the largest fish species currently living on Earth (they can measure between 4 and 14 metres!), whale sharks are only found in open waters and tropical oceans. They can thus be seen off the Yucatán Peninsula every year when the waters are warmest, from about mid-May to mid-September. Perfectly harmless to humans, they feed mainly on plankton, algae, and microscopic creatures.
Head on to Isla Mujeres' Playa Norte where you can visit the reef and enjoy some water activities. At around 1 pm, a traditional lunch of prawn or fish ceviche, guacamole & totopos (tortilla chips), fruit, and drinks will be served on the beach.
Finally, you'll head back to the port, where the bus will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.
