Set off to explore Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve for a day and enjoy the natural wonders including the jungle and mangroves!
You will meet your guide at the meeting point in Tulum at 12 pm to board a vehicle to the archaeological site of Muyil, located about 30 minutes drive south.
Accompanied by your guide, you will visit the site of Muyil (or Chunyaxché in the Yucatec-Maya language), dating from the Preclassic period (from 2500 BCE to 200 CE), strategically located on an ancient Mayan trade route. Less well-known and therefore less visited than the sites of Tulum or Chichén Itzá, it nevertheless offers visitors the possibility of observing the ruins of very well-preserved temples, surrounded by a dense forest.
For example, you will discover the impressive "El Castillo" pyramid, a temple dedicated to Ixchel - goddess of fertility - that is 17 meters high. You will also pass the Plaza de la Entrada, where you can see several Mayan ruins, as well as the Palacio Rosa (Pink Palace), which was a central monument in the city's religious life.
You will enjoy free time to explore the jungle and enjoy a complete change of scenery, discovering the lush vegetation of these places. Muyil has a lagoon as well as a wooden mirador (look-out), onto which you can climb to get a general view of the site.
You can also take advantage of this break to find a small local restaurant for lunch (not included in the tour price).
You will set off again in the mid-afternoon towards the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. Recognised as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO since 1986, it has been included on the World Heritage list since 1987. You will board a small boat to navigate the turquoise waters of the lagoon, amidst the mangroves, trying to catch a glimpse of manatees, crocodiles and different birds. Then, you will arrive at a freshwater cenote to spot manta rays in shallow waters.
Finally, you will continue your trip until the lagoon meets the sea, where you can swim in natural, fresh water to relax. Here, in this magnificent setting, that you will enjoy the sunset.
After a day exploring the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, in the evening you will be driven back to the departure point.
